Report: Lamar Jackson to come off reserve/COVID-19 list, start for Ravens on Tuesday - Yahoo Sports

Baltimore Ravens fans, you can breathe a little easier. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, quarterback Lamar Jackson will be reinstated from the reserve/COVID-19 list in time for the team’s game against the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday, and is expected to start.

Jackson’s backup, Robert Griffin III, wasn’t a disaster in the Ravens’ Wednesday loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the drop in quality between Jackson and Griffin was noticeable. He went 7-for-12 with 33 yards and one interception, and fumbled once on seven rushing attempts. His day ended early when he left in the fourth quarter with a hamstring injury.

Trace McSorley, the third-string quarterback, replaced Griffin to close out the 19-14 loss. He threw a long touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter to bring the Ravens within striking distance, and would likely get the start on Tuesday if Jackson isn’t able to go. Starting a third-string quarterback while in a playoff race is never something a team wants to do, but on the bright side, at least the Ravens would have a quarterback to start. That’s more than the Denver Broncos can say lately.

The Ravens have been getting players back from the reserve/COVID-19 list in waves — and when anything about your team-wide outbreak can be considered a “wave,” you know it was extensive. They got nine players back before they played the Steelers, and have gotten seven back since that game.

That’s still not everyone. The Ravens have put more than 20 players on the reserve/COVID-19 list over the past month, and they still need to get a handful of players back to be clear of the outbreak.

Though with Jackson back on the field, the Ravens will be closer to normal than they’ve been in weeks.
