POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Shabreon Collins was shot through the front door of her apartment with a high-powered rifle in June of 2019.

Collins did not survive the gun wounds to her right shoulder, but her father told Bay News 9 that finding the shooter would allow him a slice of peace he hasn’t had since she died.
“I don’t want to have fun or do anything,” said Ransie Collins, Shabreon Collins’s father. “Everything has changed for me since that day.”
Ransie Collins sat in his living room with his two daughters Ranjonee and Eisnaria, detailing the day they learned Shabreon had been shot.
“I felt a sharp pain in my chest," said Ranjonee, Shabreon’s younger sister. “We knew she was gone.”
Another sister saying she felt Shabreon slipping away before she was airlifted to the hospital.
“We were told she was talking and okay when authorities got to her apartment,” Eisnaria said. “We joked in the waiting room that she’d come out of there telling jokes.”
The Collins family let their tears show on Sunday, each telling Bay News 9 it’s time for the shooter to turn themselves in.
“Somebody’s got to pay for this,” Ransie said. “I believe detectives are getting close, much closer than you think.”
Shabreon’s boyfriend at the time was allegedly selling marijuana out of the home and has since been arrested on drug and weapon related charges. However, he is not a suspect in the case.
“The face was covered but someone’s talking,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.
Judd raised the reward money from $10,000 to $15,000 for anyone who can give information about Shabreon’s death. You are asked to contact the Polk County Sheriff’s office with any details.
