The list of school districts have announced they are staying with, or switching to, all-remote learning until January — and possibly longer — is growing.

It includes three of the state’s biggest school districts, in Jersey City, Newark and Paterson.

On Tuesday, another large district announced an impending change. Woodbridge Superintendent Robert Zega told parents that he K-12 district will switch to virtual instruction starting Monday and continuing until Jan. 19, and possibly longer.

“We have to make this decision with heavy hearts,” Zega said in a video posted to the district’s website.

With coronavirus cases continuing to rise in New Jersey, additional districts seem likely to follow suit, though Gov. Phil Murphy has said he is not planning to order a statewide shutdown.

While the state does not maintain a public list of the schools or districts that have had to close down, it provides an online dashboard identifying counties, number of schools and cases that were transmitted in school buildings or through school activities.

As on Tuesday morning, it showed that 51 schools have had a total of 193 cases. State officials on Tuesday reported 4,060 more COVID-19 cases and 38 additional deaths, the highest number of fatalities announced in a single day in more than four months.

Below is a list of schools and districts not planning a return to in-person instruction until 2021.
