The line-up for Strictly Come Dancing 2023 is starting to take shape. The BBC ballroom contest is expected to return to TV screens within weeks and the celebrities who will be taking to the dancefloor have begun to be announced.
So far the roll-call of names includes two actors - one of whom will be flying the flag for Greater Manchester - and a legendary newsreader, with plenty more still to come. Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman are set to host the show again - with the pair having reportedly signed a six-figure deal to stay with Strictly for two more years.
A change will come, however, on the BBC Two spin-off It Takes Two. Janette Manrara is set to present this year's series of It Takes Two with Fleur East following Rylan Clark's departure after four years.

The BBC has given the first clue as to when 2023's Strictly journey will officially begin as people were recently invited to apply for tickets to be in the audience. There were two opportunities available - the Strictly Come Dancing: Professional Dancers Pre-Records and the Strictly Come Dancing: Launch Show.
The first takes place between August 24 and August 30, while the launch show will be filmed on September 6. On July 19 Gemma Atkinson, fiancée of Strictly star Gorka Marquez, confirmed the pro dancers would be back in rehearsals in a matter of days.
Read on below to find out more about the 2023 line-up and where they've been seen before. We will update the list as more stars are confirmed.
Amanda Abbington
Amanda Abbington, 49, is an award-winning stage and screen actor. She has starred in some of the UK’s top drama TV series, including Sherlock, Mr Selfridge, Wolfe, and Desperate Measures. She also had lead roles in the series The Net and feature film The Lost King.
Her television acting career spans three decades. She has also performed in various plays in theatres across the country, and recently starred in the West End transfer of Steven Moffat’s The Unfriend.
Her role as Mary Morstan in Sherlock won her the Best Supporting Actress gong at the Crime Thriller Awards, alongside nominations for this role at the Critic’s Choice Television Awards.
Amanda said: “I’m thrilled to have been asked to do Strictly. I’m actually really shy and self-conscious so this will be a great opportunity for me to overcome those things! Plus, I get to learn to dance which I am incredibly excited about. I’m really looking forward to the training too, I’m quite competitive as my family and friends will tell you. I can’t wait to start!”
Angela Rippon
Angela Rippon, 78, is an award-winning journalist, TV presenter, newsreader, and author. Her career spans over 50 years, having presented a wide variety of programmes, from hard news and current affairs to quiz shows and magazine programmes, for broadcasters across the world.
She currently presents Rip-Off Britain for the BBC and is a regular on Morning Live and The One Show. She presented the original Come Dancing between 1988 and 1991, made a memorably high-kicking appearance on the Morecambe and Wise Christmas special in 1976 and has fronted shows such as Top Gear, Antiques Roadshow, The Holiday Programme, Crufts, How to Stay Young and The Truth About Dementia, to name a few.
In 2004 she was awarded an OBE in recognition of her services to broadcasting, charity and the arts, then in the 2017 New Year Honours Angela was appointed CBE for services to dementia care.
Angela said: “Having been a fan of Strictly since day one, and as a former presenter of Come Dancing, this will be quite an adventure for me. A scary one, considering I’m about to be 79. But I’m really looking forward to the challenge, and perhaps being able to learn to dance the Argentinian Tango!”
Layton Williams
Layton Williams, 28, is a film and theatre actor and has performed in London’s West End, with performances such as the title role in Billy Elliot and Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. Born in Bury, Greater Manchester, his stage shows also include Thriller Live, Rent, Hairspray and New Adventures.
