Volunteers Needed: Operation Come Together providing more masks for Clarksville - Clarksville Now

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Operation Come Together continues its work sewing free face masks for the Clarksville community. The masks assist in limiting the spread of COVID-19, and the organization says it is in desperate need of volunteers.

Founder of the group, Victoria Shoulders, said they have the supplies, but they need volunteers to help prep the kits for those who can sew from home.  Volunteers are needed who can iron fabric and cut fabric, ribbon, and t-shirts.

Volunteers working on the prep kits are provided a mask and gloves. The organization will check temperatures at the door and each person is stationed 20 feet apart at all times as they work.

“If you can sew from home, please come pick up a prepped kit from 327 Warfield Blvd.  We need everyone that can help with sewing the next couple of days. Our needs are becoming more urgent every day,” said Shoulders.

You can pick up a pre-made sewing kit that has enough material to make 20 masks.  Once you have sewn those 20 masks you can return them and pick up another kit and go.  “We are trying to get all the masks to people here in our community as quickly as possible,” Shoulders said.

Shoulders added right now they have over 1,000 requests for masks from all over Clarksville-Montgomery County and we need more help.  To request a mask, go to Rebrand.ly/getamask.

Many of the masks will be provided to childcare facilities, who plan to re-open Monday. The Youth Academy in Clarksville requested 250 masks.

The free masks are being distributed from a safe location. Anyone can request a mask at 1493 Madison St., the old Rite-Aid Pharmacy building next to Kroger.
