Much has changed in Cape Cod over the last half century. Through it all the Lobster Claw in Orleans has remained. However, the Berig family, owners of the iconic Cape Cod restaurant, said this week that “all good things must come to an end.”
The Berigs shared that after Sept. 13, the Lobster Claw will close permanently. The family said the closure was to all them to retire.
“So many great friends have been made and the Berig’s will miss you all so much, but all good things must come to an end!” the family said, in a post on the business Facebook page.
Scores of people expressed mixed emotions on Facebook, wishing the family well, but sharing their favorite memories at the Lobster Claw, knowing that only a month remained to make new ones.
“The Berigs hope you come in and say goodbye before we close,” the post said.
According to the Cape Cod Times, the family has plans to retire to Jupiter, Florida.
The Berigs have a broker for the restaurant that comes with an acre of land but the family has no specific plans yet, the report said.
