Among prekindergarten and special education students who began in-person classes on Jan. 11 in the first wave, the district’s latest count is 5,225 opting in, which is less than 31% of those eligible and represents a decline of more than 1,200 students since December, when CPS said 6,470 prekindergarten and special education students, or 37% of those eligible, had opted in.
