Nick Saban gave his thoughts on the resignation of tight ends coach and special teams coordinator Jay Graham during his Wednesday press conference.
During his media availability, Saban voiced his support for Graham who left the team to address his mental health concerns.
“Jay made a decision to do what he did and we’re going to support him every way we can here,” Saban said. “We certainly wish him and his family the very best for what they do.
Graham was originally hired back in February to replace Jeff Banks who left the Crimson Tide for Texas. Before he was with Alabama Graham was a running backs coach at Tennessee.
Saban also addressed what the team will do to replace Graham as the team has assigned special assistant to the head coach Todd Watson to coach the special teams unit. But Saban noted that Alabama will still conduct a search for a more pertinent replacement.
“We want to really try to get the best person we can get,” Saban said. “It’s not an ideal time, lots of people in spring practice. So we’ll just have to see how it goes and how that process ends up. We just started that a little bit today.”
