Quiet start to the work week…

Our start to the week brought warmer than normal temperatures and some sunshine. Highs reached into the upper 20s to lower 30s while normal highs are still in the 20s. Quiet and relatively pleasant weather will continue through Wednesday before a storm system arrives Wednesday night and Thursday.

Storm system for Thursday…

A powerful storm system will move through the middle of the nation on Thursday, so we will be monitoring the track and other factors to determine the snow amounts. At this time we should see snow with a possibility of rain in the midst of the storm. It would seem likely that travel conditions will be affected.

Temperature tumble…

Ultimately, the last and perhaps most important Thursday storm effect will be to drag down a cold arctic air mass for the weekend and next week. Northwest winds will tap into that colder air, and highs will drop to the single digits and significantly below zero lows will develop.
