The Broncos doubles attack looked as good as it has all year, earning wins on courts one and two to secure the doubles point. Pauline Ernstberger and Holly Stewart remain undefeated in doubles on the year after their 6-3 win at the No. 2 slot, while the No. 1 pairing of Shauna Heffernan and Joana Baptista proved too tough to beat as well in their 6-3 victory over the Utes' Emily Dush and Madeline Lamoreaux.
Singles, however, would prove to be a different story. The Utes would come out of the gates quickly to grab straight-set wins on courts four, three and five to make it a 3-1 affair and put the Broncos' backs against the wall.
With her team needing a win to stay alive, redshirt-freshman Ana Conde Vendrell stepped up and delivered a big straight-set win of her own, taking down Jasmine Rich 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 6 slot to keep the Broncos alive.
Despite great efforts from the Broncos the Utes were able to take the last two matches of the day on courts one and two and clinched the match. Utah's Lamoreaux needed to win two tiebreakers to take down the Boise State's Baptista, while Stewart took Lindsay Hung the distance in a three-set loss on court two to end the day's action.
Boise State falls to 2-2 on the year, but has the chance to bounce back tomorrow as it faces off against Dixie State. The neutral-site match in Salt Lake City will begin at 9 a.m.
