The Baltimore Ravens went through another training camp practice on Tuesday, but this one had a different feel to it. After days of ramp up, players were able suit up in pads, which meant the physicality and intensity of practice would be much higher.
With pads on, the fireworks were certainly there on Tuesday. Multiple dust-ups occured over the course of practice, with rookie fullback Ben Mason in the middle of them.
Patrick Queen vs. Ben Mason is the first beef of minicamp. They locked horns after an inside run, Queen shoved him away, and the sides separated amicably.

Ravens wrapping up practice. Pads going predictably ratcheted things up a notch. Ravens rookie FB Ben Mason was in middle of it. Jaylon Ferguson threw a couple of punches at Mason but he didn’t retaliate. Then, Patrick Queen and Mason got into it.

Ravens QBs doing a better job of completing passes under pressure than yesterday, but there’s been a lot of pressure.
Calais Campbell has been dominant inside and on the edge. Anthony Levine Sr. has a couple would-be sacks, too, on blitzes.

On the first play of 11-on-11s in full pads, Ben Cleveland put an OLB on his back.

Justin Madubuike continuously gave OL trouble in one on ones (which were hard for anyone to see in a distant part of the field)
Ferguson and Queen both got into shoving matches with Ben Mason, who was all over the field today.
Binjamin Victor had a nice day.

During run defense Oweh took on a pulling Cleveland and stood his ground.

A physical Ravens practice wraps up with another W for the defense.
OL Kevin Zeitler, who was scheduled to talk today, left practice early with an athletic trainer. WR Rashod Bateman made it through but was limited in 11-on-11.

Calais Campbell had a vet day yesterday and returns today with three pressures already.

Sammy Watkins and Deon Cain were among the standouts at WR. Marlon Humphrey was targeted often but didn’t give up much in coverage.
The defense whooped the offense in pass-rush drills, getting on a couple nice win streaks.

Ravens Day 7 recap
💪Calais Campbell showed off his power in first padded practice
📸WR Deon Cain has flashed the past two practices
🥊Ben Mason got into some minor scuffles with linebackers
😧Tough day for offensive line without Stanley, Zeitler and Villanueva— Jamison Hensley (@jamisonhensley) August 3, 2021
Patrick Mekari had some beautiful pass sets at LT today. He’s undersized there; but his feet and angles are so nice in his kick slide…
I might like him best at tackle especially in the pass game.

Now that pads are back on, practices will begin to look and feel a bit more like an NFL game. Players begin to want to hit after running through plays without any physicality, and they now have that ability. In terms of teammates fighting, dust-ups and scuffles in practices usually don’t mean much, if anything at all. They’re not uncommon, and are a sign that practice is intense and they’re invested. Over the course of the next few weeks, it will be interesting to see who begins to stand out with a physicality element added into things, as a lot is on the line for many players.
