Aztecs Come Back to Earn 2-2 Draw at OSU - SDSU Athletics

Box Score CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Aztec men's soccer team (5-7-4, 1-4-3) came back to tie Oregon State (6-3-6, 2-1-5) 2-2 Thursday evening, earning their first result in Corvallis since 2013.

SDSU scored first but then saw Oregon State score the next two before Blake Bowen scored the equalizer in the 65th minute.

"I'm proud of the boys and their resiliency once again in this big matchup," Head coach Ryan Hopkins said after the match. "We kept fighting and had some moments of brilliance. To get our first result in Corvallis since 2013 is amazing and we move on with our postseason chances still alive."

In the 10th minute, Oregon State's Nicklas Lund tackled Donovan Roux from behind in the box, which awarded SDSU a penalty kick. Iñigo Villaldea's attempt was blocked with a diving save by the Beaver goalkeeper, but it bounced right back to Villladea who charged and put it into the back of the net.

In the 16th minute, OSU's Fran Cortijo sent in a cross from the left wing that skipped through the box to Thiam Mouhameh who poked it into the top right corner.

It was a physical first half with more opportunities for both sides, but the teams went into the locker room at half knotted at 1-1 with only one shot separating them.

In the 49th minute, the Beavers' Lorenzo Lopez sent an arching lead pass to David Perez who chipped it up and over a charging Jacob Castro to give the Beavers' their first lead.

The Aztecs tied it up in the 65th minute with a rocket from Blake Bowen. On the right wing, he cut inside and sent a laser from the top of the box that deflected off a defender and snuck inside the near post. Bowen has recorded a point in three of his last four matches.

Five minutes later, OSU's Tomas Bedouret fouled Austin Brummett from behind with nothing but grass in front of him and was given a yellow card, his second of the game, forcing OSU to play the final 20 minutes with 10 men.

Oregon State outshot SDSU 12-10 overall and 7-4 in the second half.
