Final Results

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga.

– Head Coach Chris Adams' squad strung together three very solid days of golf at the Callaway Gardens Invite, but it wasn't quite enough on Wednesday as Central Arkansas used the best team round of the tournament to slip past the Blue Raiders on the final day.

Middle Tennessee claimed a second place finish in their final fall event, posting a three day total of 16-over par (288-290-290=868) to land eight strokes back of UCA. The Blue Raiders bested the third place Mercer Bears (+19) by three strokes while finishing well ahead of Conference USA foes UAB (+32), WKU (+36) and FIU (+41).

"I can't say enough about our team's performance this week," Adams stated. "We battled all week long with every player contributing and we were right there on the final day, but hats off to Central Arkansas for winning it with a great round today. I thought we played loose and had a lot of fun this week and it led to a really strong team finish in our last fall event."

Senior Sophie Burks suffered a similar fate to that of her team, posting yet another round of par or better only to be beaten out on the final day by UAB's Tia Teinketo and her tournament-best round of 5-under par 66.

Burks finished the week at 3-under par (68-71-71=210), notching the lowest 54-hole scorecard of her career and claiming her fourth Top 5 finish.

Sophomore Molly Bebelaar ranked near the top of the leaderboard throughout the week, posting a 54-hole total of 5-over par (72-73-73=218) and narrowly missing her first career Top 10 finish at the collegiate level as she claimed 11th place.

Fellow sophomore Taylor Edlin was very impressive after a slow opening round, bouncing back with rounds of 1-over 72 and 1-under 70 to climb 35 spots up the 61-player leaderboard in two days and claim a share of 17th place at 8-over par (79-72-70=221).

"We got another great performance this week from Sophie and I thought Molly bounced back really well after a tough week at Arkansas State," Adams added. "I was also really impressed with the way Taylor finished her round today and how she competed the last two days to work her way into the Top 20."

Junior Catherine Caudill battled some rough holes on Wednesday but was able to post a team-leading four birdies on the round as well to finish the week inside the top half of the field at 11-over par (73-74-77=224) and tied for 28th.

Senior Caroline Caudill and junior Madison Smith closed out the scoring for Middle Tennessee on the week, turning in 54-hole totals of 15-over par (75-74-79=228) and 16-over par (77-76-76=229), respectively.

The Blue Raiders' strong performance throughout the week should provide plenty of momentum and confidence as they turn the page and begin preparing for the spring slate of tournaments and Conference USA Championship.
