Seven area counties come together for one day of giving - KBTX

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Brazos Valley Gives Day is bringing together seven area counties within the Brazos Valley for one single day of giving on Tuesday to benefit 136 nonprofits. This year more than ever this fundraising day is crucial to area nonprofits because of the pandemic.

“Everybody in our community has the opportunity today to make a difference," said Ron Crozier, Director of Community Relations and Development at Twin City Mission.

In its second year, Brazos Valley Gives is aspiring to raise $375,000 for area nonprofits ranging from the arts to agriculture to health. It’s a time when local nonprofits need it the most.

In just 18 hours, hundreds of thousands of dollars will help pandemic-stretched charities continue moving forward.

“We’ve struggled since March," said Crozier. “We are getting ready to go into the holiday season and there is a lot of unrest, a lot of uneasiness, a lot of unanswered questions out there."

“Today is the day we have hope that we can start building a plan for tomorrow,” said Crozier.

“The situation with COVID has caused us to have a lack of control in our lives, but we can control ourselves and the things we can do is give to people when they are in need or when they are hurting and this an easy way to do that," said Denise Fries owner of Fries Financial Services. "A safe way to do that. And it gives you a sense of a fact that you’ve done something. And we all need that right now.”

This day of giving helps nonprofits continue what they do best: make a difference.

“It’s time for the nonprofit world to take a bow," said Its time for the nonprofit world to say ‘you know we make a big difference in the lives of people who live in this community.’ said Craig Borchardt, President and CEO of Hospice Brazos Valley. "And so not only is it a matter of us receiving support from the community, but it is also a way for our community, the nonprofit world, to say we’re proud to be here. And we thank you for your support.”
