Art and technology come alive at Indianapolis Woodworking Show - WISHTV.com

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Woodworking Show is back in town for three days of networking, design and woodworking education.

It’s a show that combines the art of woodworking with technical advancements in machines and technique.

“If I wasn’t doing this, I would probably be a sculptor or something like that,” said Pennsylvania-based furniture maker Chuck Bender.

Bender has been coming to the Indy Woodworking Show on and off for 12 years. He says the show is about the woodworking community, showing off new styles and reconnecting with friends.

While the the show is a chance for woodworkers to sharpen their skills and tools, it’s also a time to bring in the next generation of woodworkers.

“I never come into this show to do a demonstration and have a bunch of kids look at all the equipment and say, ‘they’re bored,'” said Bender.

The weekend-long show features seminars, giveaways and fun for the whole family.

There is also a pen-making station where guests can build and put together pens that start as a block of wood. Pens can be purchased for $10 which goes to the Wounded Warrior Project to support veterans.

The Indianapolis Woodworking Show is open Saturday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at the Champions Pavilion inside the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

Tickets are $12 if purchased online and $14 at the door.
