WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Everyone has an opinion about the Astros.
Those opinions are surrounding the 2020 team during the early days of spring training for a new season.
After Dodgers star Cody Bellinger fired off about the Astros on Friday, the 2019 American League Cy Young winner responded to strong words from the 2019 National League MVP.
"That's his opinion," Justin Verlander said Saturday morning at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.
Then Verlander said more.
Asked about the endless criticisms surrounding his team, Verlander acknowledged being impacted by the storm.
"Yeah, it bothers me," Verlander said. "But he’s entitled and everybody else is entitled to their own opinion. I think the facts are still coming out. ... I don’t think this is something that is going to be done now, even for us.”
The Astros' Thursday press-conference disaster — one of many for the 2017 World Series winners in recent months — only led to more outside furor.
Two days after discussing a sport changing sign-stealing scandal for the first time, Verlander hinted that he expects more information to come out about the Astros and, potentially, other MLB teams.
"Where that leads, what happens, I don't know," Verlander said.
Asked specifically about the Dodgers, Verlander remained vague.
"I don't want to insinuate about other organizations," he said.
