GREEN BAY – Receiver Allen Lazard played through a core muscle injury during the Packers' 37-30 win over New Orleans on Sunday, Head Coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Friday morning.
Lazard, who missed Thursday's practice, caught six passes for a career-high 146 yards and a touchdown in Sunday night's 37-30 win over the New Orleans Saints. He currently leads the Packers with 13 catches for 254 yards and two touchdowns.
Head Coach Matt LaFleur didn't specify how much time Lazard will miss, but praised the second-year receiver's toughness after he played 59 of the 62 offensive snaps (95%) against the Saints in spite of the injury.
"It's an unfortunate deal," LaFleur said. "He's as tough as they come. That's what you love about the guy. He's a gritty competitor. It's unfortunate but it is what it is. It's an opportunity for other guys to step up and make their mark."
Behind veteran starters Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, the Packers have a pair of young receivers, Darrius Shepherd and Malik Taylor, on the 53-man roster and four others on the practice squad (Reggie Begelton, Robert Foster, Caleb Scott and Juwann Winfree).
